In photographer Christian Werner’s hands, the camera does not discriminate. The splendour of colour and close-up capture the street as well as famous intellectuals, artists, models, and locations. What follows is a small selections of just some of the striking work that is contained in Werner's new book, “Everything So Democratic and Cool”: a line taken from the dearly departed singer, Dave Berman. To borrow from Berman again, we’re “going to call them Honest Eyes.”
Werner’s book features texts by Sarah Bernauer and Friederike Haupt, which together with portraits and landscapes from Berlin to Los Angeles, create a new look at photography’s democratic potential.
Christian Werner is a photographer based in Berlin whose images have appeared in dozens of magazines and newspapers. He has published eight books of photography, and exhibited his work throughout Germany.
