The 2010s are coming to a close. In the last decade, the world around us evolved at blistering speed, hurtling along an unusual course. In honour of this fresh start, Spike takes one last look back on the events that shaped the decade with a discussion amongst those who helped to define it.

Joining us are SUSANNE PFEFFER, curator of the emblematic exhibitions “Speculations on Anonymous Materials” at Kassel’s Fridericianum in 2013 and “Anne Imhof: Faust” for the 2017 Venice Biennale German Pavilion; the artist and founding member of the collective LuckyPDF, JOHN HILL; and the Berlin gallerist AMADEO KRAUPA-TUSKANY. CAROLINE BUSTA, founder of New Models and former editor-in-chief of Texte zur Kunst, will be the panel’s moderator.

The panelists will grapple with how the terms of artistic production and consumption have fundamentally changed since 2010, and how the seemingly profound democratisation that accompanied these developments dissolved shared narratives and critical opinions, changes that had a lasting effect on the art world as we know it.

Susanne Pfeffer is the director of the MUSEUM MMK FÜR MODERNE KUNST in Frankfurt am Main, where she has organized the current exhibition “Museum” and a recent survey of the artist Cady Noland. In 2017, she curated Anne Imhof’s Faust for the German Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, which was awarded the Golden Lion.

John Hill is a Prague-based British artist and educator whose work looks at the artistic and institutional use of cybernetic methods.

Amadeo Kraupa-Tuskany is the co-founder of K-T Z gallery in Berlin, representing artists such as Katja Novitskova, Avery Singer, Guan Xiao and Anna Uddenberg.
