Spike is pleased to present

"You Then A Dang"

A poetry reading with a Q&A by Hoa Nguyen

The poet Hoa Nguyen will speak about documentary poetics and read from a series in progress in which she draws upon archival information, research, and personal narrative to address a convulsive period in Vietnam as well as a verse biography of her mother, Diep Anh Nguyen, a celebrated stunt motorcyclist.

Born in the Mekong Delta and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, Hoa Nguyen lives in Toronto where she teaches creative writing. Her books include "As Long As Trees Last", "Red Juice: Poems 1998-2008", and "Violet Energy Ingots", which was nominated for a 2017 Griffin Prize for poetry.

This presentation is made possible by a Works in Progress grant from the Ontario Arts Council.
