Lecture: Arne De Boever at SFSIA
Spike is pleased to host a lecture by
Arne De Boever
"Various theories of the image"
De Boever's lecture will deal with "various theories of the image" to think another kind of exception that pitches what Walter Benjamin already called a “real” state of exception against the “fake” states of exception that have become the new normal.
Arne De Boever teaches American Studies in the School of Critical Studies at the CalArts. He has published numerous articles on literature, film, and critical theory and is editor of "Parrhesia: A Journal of Critical Philosophy". He also edits the critical theory/philosophy section of the Los Angeles Review of Books and is a member of the "boundary 2" collective. Currently, De Boever is working on a new book project, tentatively titled "Finance Fictions", which deals with psychosis in the contemporary American finance novel.
The lecture is part of the evening public program of Saas-Fee Summer Institute of Art, founded and directed by Warren Neidich and co-directed by Barry Schwabsky. In 2017 it takes place at Spike Berlin during the month of July.
Before and after each lecture we will be serving drinks at the SYL-Bar until midnight.
