Yuk Hui "Cosmotechnics as Cosmopolitics"
In face of the Anthropocene, the recent ‘ontological turn’ in Anthropology which proposes a ‘politics of ontologies’ searching for a new configuration after the failure of modernity and globalization, can be seen as a pursuit of a cosmopolitics. Such politics of ontologies aims to address the nature and culture divide developed during the European modernity through the demonstration of a multiplicity of nature, or even a multinaturalism proposed by Eduardo Viveiros de Castro. This talk will respond to and deviate from the above agenda by introducing what I call cosmotechnics, which aims to serve as a new departing point to reflect on the concept of technology and world history.
